Bocas del Toro to host major
surfing & modeling event

A major international surfing and modeling event, the Reef Classic Latin Show, will take place on Isla Colón, Bocas del Toro March 25-27. The event will attract some of the top “wave chasers” of the region, including Mágnum Martínez (Venezuela), Kalle Carranza (México), Luis Vindas (Costa Rica), Gabriel Aramburu (Perú) and Felipe Carrillo, Pimpli López and Pucha García from Panama. This six-star competition will offer US$15,000 in prizes. Scores will be added to the Latin American ranking of the Latin American Surf Association (ALAS).

Sponsored by Reef, the famous international sportswear name brand, the event also includes the Miss Reef beauty pageant, featuring bikini-clad belles from Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina, Perú and Panama.

The event will attract some of the best surfers from Venezuela, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica and Panama.

Located in the northwestern corner of the Republic, the province of Bocas del Toro is one of Panama’s newest tourist meccas. The region is known for its pristine beaches, its national parks (both maritime and continental) and for its annual Fair of the Sea, an annual Caribbean-accented celebration taking place in September/October.

Daily, scheduled flights to Bocas depart from Albrook’s Marcos A. Gelabert Airport (call Aeroperlas Regional, tel.:315-7500) Flights take approximately an hour. An excellent service of large, modern buses departs from Gran Terminal de Transporte, also located in Albrook. These overnight trips last between 8-10 hours.
