New oceanfront resort opens in Boca Chica

A new resort with the wonderful name "Gone Fishing" has just opened in Boca Chica, a small fishing village, in the province of Chiriqui on the Pacific Ocean just one hour and fifteen minutes from David.

Directions given by the owners for finding Boca Chica are intriguing: after turning off the Interamerican Highway at the sign pointing to Horconcitos, turn left at the Boca Chica sign. Gone Fishing Panama Resorts is located at telephone pole # 151.

Though the resort did not open until Feb. 1, people who stayed there prior to that date, despite the ongoing construction, all said they will be back, (their experience exceeded their expectations).

A grand opening celebration is scheduled for March 5 at 2pm and the public is invited.

The owners of "Gone Fishing", Bruce Edwards and Donna Skinner.

Gone Fishing Panama Resort is a small, secluded retreat for sightseeing, relaxing, big game fishing, in-shore fishing swimming, surfing, beachcombing, honeymooning (weddings, are also catered for ).

The resort offers upscale accommodations with fabulous views and serves tasty gourmet meals on an open-air terrace with a panoramic view of the ocean and islands. There is a large, vanishing- edge swimming pool and two boats for rent, both with complete safety equipment aboard.

Additional dock spaces are being built for anyone that needs a slip for the night or for long term. Diesel and gasoline will be available soon also.

Up to now the road to Boca Chica has been a tough ride. The road, however, is scheduled to be paved starting in March, 2006. Boca Chica is a growing area and has recently been designated a tourist zone. Several small business are developing in and around Boca Chica and new housing developments are underway: Playa Grande, Playa Hermosa and Istana Properties, all waterfront communities. Once the road is completed, Boca Chica is expected to expand rapidly.
