Reef Classic International

Big surf
event at Gorgona

The Pacific
beach Playa Malibu at La Gorgona, an hour´s drive from Panama
City, will be the venue for the second annual "Reef Classic Latin
Crown" international surfing event on Saturday and Sunday April
15 and 16. Prize money of $15,000 will be divided among the champions.
Last year´s "Reef Classic" was held at Bocas del Toro.
Apart
from the surfing, girls will compete for the title of "Miss Reef
International Bikini Open" with $3,000 in prizes. Among the contestants
will be winners of the Miss Reef contests of Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina,
Perú, Brazil and Panamá. Panama´s contestants
will be Nicole Perez, Patricia Lezcano and Monica González,
first, second and third finalists in the "Miss Reef Panama 2005"
contest.

Swiss
trio opens winter season of National Concert Association
|
The
"winter" season of concerts sponsored by the National Concert
Association begins on Wednesday April 19 at La Huaca Theatre, Atlapa,
with a perfomance by the Swiss Trio.
The Swiss
Trio has an impressive list of achievements behind it. They were the
first Swiss group to win first prize in the International Chamber
Music Competition in 2003. In 2001 they won the Migros competition
in Zurich and last year they placed first in the Johannes Brahms competition
of Austria and the Swiss Ambassador prize in famous Wigmore Hall in
London.
This year
the trio is touring Latin America and China.

The famous
Philadelphia Boys Chair & Chorale will be in Panama from April
11 to 16 for a series of concerts in the capital and Chiriquí.
Founded 37 years ago, the 110 member choir is known as "America´s
Ambassadors of Song" because, apart from their usual 40 performances
in the Delaware Valley, they travel the world with their unique message
of song and their commitment to American youth and international co-operation.

The Gamboa
Rainforest Resort Hotel will sponsor its first fishing tournament
for 2006 on April 8 and 9 in Lake Gatun with over $30,000 in prize
money.
Inscriptions
are open at the Hotel Intercontinental Miramar and will cost $175
per boat with a maximum of three fisherman. Additional fishermen will
cost $25 each. The marina of the resort also has boats for hire for
$175 per person, minimum 2 people. The cost includes gas, captain
and complete fishing kit plus bait.
The categories
of the tournament will be determined by the species of fish in the
lake including Peacock Bass and Tarpon. This year for the first time
the event will include a category for children to encourage future
interest in the sport.
According
to Fidel Reyes, general manager of the Gamboa Rainforest Resort Hotel,
fishing is not the only attraction. Participants will also enjoy the
natural beauty of the lake.
