Every night a star is born

Karaoke, the Japanese invention that has circled the world, is alive and well in Panama, giving one and all the chance to star for an evening, or earn a hearty round of applause even if the rendition misses a few beats or notes.

Most karaoke bars in the city don’t get going until after 9 p.m. but then it’s show time, and, as David Young’s pictures show, the audience becomes part of the performance.
