Breakfast all day, if you like, at Bernard’s new airport restaurant

The facilities of Enrique Malek International Airport in David can´t quite match Heathrow or Orly – except in one regard: David´s airport now has a restaurant to match any in the world´s greatest terminals. Introducing: Bernard´s, an inviting eatery on the first floor of the airport with a view of the ramp and the runway.

If you have ever spent any time in Bocas del Toro you will know the proprietor Bernard Bahary by reputation, as mine host at Bernard´s Pargo Rojo. Now he has brought his skills and personality to David and undoubtedly will attract not only passengers, but seekers of good food from around the province of Chiriquí.

First things first: we have to tell you that Bernard´s serves breakfast all day (with a bottomless cup of coffee or tea ). From bagels and cream cheese to Eggs New Delhi, there is a wide choice. Omelettes, Greek, Mexican, Thai (hot, hot); “pure and simple” or the special with swiss cheese, spinach, onions garlic, green peppers, bacon, mushroom and tomatoes, served with home fries and baked beans. There are also waffles, pancakes, crepes and French toast.

Who would want anything but breakfast? But the menu goes on and on through lunch with a choice of seven soups, four salads, eleven seafoods, four chicken dishes, pastas, lasagnas, burgers, sandwiches and wraps.

Bernard Bahary is a very international person. Of Iranian descent he was educated in England and has lived all over. So with equal aplomb he gives you fish and chips, Baroni, shrimp tempura, Polish Sausage or a jumbo hot dog. So take a flight to Malek International, the gourmet destination.
