Although most of Panama’s
expats are either middle-aged folks or retirees, a number of the
country’s new residents are young families with children.
For them, Professor Luis Fernando Morales has launched the 2007
Summer Music Camp, a program for children ages 1-16.
Between January 8 and
February 17, Professor Morales, a Panamanian-born concert pianist
who spent most of his life in Europe, will offer courses in basic
musical education, music appreciation, sight reading and individual
instrument classes at the "Musical Kids Academy", located
behind Exedra Books, between Vía España and Vía
Brazil.
The Musical Kids Academy
is a well-equipped, safe facility for all ages, served by a multi-lingual
staff of music teachers. Approximately 50% of the academy’s
regular students are foreigners, as well as a good part of the staff.
The academy offers a proven European system which is also available
to adults at evening hours.

Profesor Morales, the academy's director, is a renowned concert
pianist.
The director
The academy’s director, Luis Fernando Morales, has
spent over 30 years as a concert pianist in Europe, where he offered
more than 300 concerts in 80 cities. Leaving Panama at an early
age, Morales settled with his family in Spain, where he took his
first lessons. At age 16, he enrolled at Brussels’ Conservatory
where he studies with some of Europe’s most renowned musicians.
He returned to Panama in 1993, where he has performed, both as a
soloist or as a guest pianist of the National Symphony Orchestra.
Professor Morales is
the organizer of the "Dinner Concerts" held monthly at
Restaurante Il Boccalino, featuring prestigious national and international
artists. He also hosts a classical music program on the radio, "Sempre
Musica", aired every Sunday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on 94.5FM
and again from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
