The 2007 Gamboa Rainforest Resort Fishing Tournament will take place on November 17th and 18th at Gatun Lake. During the tournament the following categories will be awarded prizes Peacock Bass, Sea Bass for 1st. 2nd and 3rd. places and 1st place Tarpon. Also prizes will be awarded for the ladies category 1st, place Peacock Bass and the kids category where all future fishermen receive prizes. During the competition the teams with more skill and better luck will be awarded by being able to participate in the Best Team Category, where prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd. and 3rd. places. Other details of awards will be given by the Judge, René Gomez, during the first day of the tournament.
Inscription for the tournament costs $175.- per yacht or private boat, with a maximum of 3 fishermen. If more fishermen are added, the additional cost will be $30. Those who use boats belonging to the marina during the days of the event will pay $175.- per person, with a 2 person minimum. This option includes boat charter, fuel, captain, refreshments, lunch box, complete fishing equipment and live bait. "We have many participants for this tournament and we promise an exciting day at the lake with great prizes, and the kind of enthusiasm and energy that distinguish all of our fishing tournaments," states Edgar Perez, manager of the Gamboa Forest Resort. |

Tropic Star Lodge Fishing Tournament |

The Tropic Star Lodge annual Fishing Tournament, the most important salt-water fishing competition in Central America, will take place from November 28 to December 2. Registration is now open for the event. Eleanor Armstrong, one of the organizers of the annual event points out that there will be more than $75,000 in prizes, among them a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder for the fisherman that bags three marlins, one in each fishing day. "The tournament also calls attention to the conservation of fish such as marlins, sailfish and swordfish since all fish have to be released back into the ocean. The tournament also benefits conservationist entities and educates on the importance of billed fish," declares Dr. Marco Ostrander, the proprietor.
Fishing days will begin at 7:00a.m each day, with lines out of the water by 3:00p.m.. Between 80 and 90 Panamanian and international sportsmen are expected to participate and 25 to 30 boats. Tropic Star Lodge is one of the most famous fishing spots in the world, where the International Game Fish Association has recognized many world records.
