"Reservoir Dogs" at The Guild
The Theatre Guild of Ancón (TGA) is giving new life to 'Reservoir Dogs,' the first and perhaps most iconic flick by the famously loquacious filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. The “new generation” of talent at TGA rallied support from Converse Panama to make possible the upcoming theatrical adaptation of this 1992 cult classic.
Panamanian writer and zombie march personality Rob Rivera proved his ability at theatrical adaptation with the 2011 presentation of 'Great Expectations' at TGA. The play, which opens on Thursday, May 24, is proof of an evolved craft in his work. More [+]

New film law
The news of Panama's first-ever International Film Festival (IFFPanama) that concluded on Wednesday last week made it all the way to Hollywood, fueled by the unveiling of the country's new film production law that will allow incentives for movie production here.
President Ricardo Martinelli enacted the law last week, a piece of legislature that has been in the work for eight years, according to 'The Hollywood Reporter.' The law was championed by local producer Luis Pacheco. It establishes an annual $3 million dollar fund for local film productions, a huge sum in a country with only a handful of filmmakers. More [+]
Developing Real Estate in Panama
In a recent edition of this newspaper, The Visitor, reported that building permits, additions, and repairs approved in the first two months of this year amounted to $292.7 million according to the Comptroller’s Office. This is an increase of 46.8% or $93.4 million during the same period in 2011.

Bocas celebrates its Afro-roots
Bocas Town will be filled with Congo, Caribbean and reggae beats this weekend. The first-ever Festival Afro-Caribeño will be held in the streets of Bocas Town on Isla Colón through Sunday, May 20. The event is organized by César Herrera, the president of the ‘Diablitos’ Organization a group that celebrates this tradition of masked dancers that dates back to colonial times. More [+]
